#448 in SHOTENKENCHIKU (October 2014)

#448, our design for the relocation of ELIMINATOR, a men's select shop in Daikanyama, Tokyo, was featured in the October 2014 issue of SHOTENKENCHIKU. Here are the magazine pages and a video of making the flip-dot sign for its show window.

#448, the relocation of ELIMINATOR, was featured in the October 2014 issue of SHOTENKENCHIKU, a monthly magazine published by Shotenkenchiku-sha (pp. 152–153).

The sign in the show window joins two ALFAZETA flip-dot display units into a single display. We programmed the display and built the signboard enclosure ourselves. The sound of the dots flipping is picked up by a microphone, passed through an amplifier, and played through the speakers in the store. Instead of music, this flipping sound serves as the store’s background music all day.

The video records a test on March 29, 2014: programming the display and building it into the enclosure.
